For Sale: One 12" X 19" metal inspection port
I have a very high quality metal inspection port for sale for $275 +
shipping.
It was built by a local machine shop and has never been used. The fuel tank
for which it was designed was actually removed and replaced. This is a high
quality piece of metal fabrication designed to provide large area access to fuel
and water tanks.

The details are:
- Outside dimensions: 12" by 19"
- Inside plate frame width: 1" (see photos below)
- Holes on 1" centers; you can use the cover plate as a template to
drill the holes in your tank.
- Aluminum face place (the big outside plate) (about 3/16" thick)
- Stainless steel inside plate frame (about 3/16" thick) with
threaded studs press fitted at 1" centers.
- The price includes nylon lock nuts and O-rings
- Also included are the adhesives shown: promoter (trade name PR-148
adhesion promoter) and sealant (PR-1440 tank sealant)
A typical installation would be to place the inside frame inside the existing
tank with pre-drilled holes for the frame bolts to stick through. A bead of
sealant can be put on the inside. Then an o-ring is placed over each bolt and
pressed down to the outside tank surface. Then the outside frame can be fit over
the bolts and o-rings. A gasket should be fashioned for the outside tank-plate
mating surface. If you never intend to re-open in, sealant could be used. Then
the nuts are threaded onto the studs and tightened.

The threaded studs have a special head and are press fitted into the
inside frame. Very impressive work. The shop had done other inspection
ports. |

Another close up. The bevel on the inside surface of the outside
face plate is designed to accommodate the o-ring assuring no leaks past
the bolt. |
