Condo
Seeing as how Fidelity (and most other market based investment companies) was not doing too well with our hard earned money, we decided to purchase a Condo in Stuart, FL, where we want to retire. It is an investment, a place to go for vacations, a place for our families to enjoy, and a place we can live in when we retire and do the snowbird thing on the waterway in Aurora.
While the Stuart area and Martin County as a whole are enjoying phenomenal growth, there is still a charm to many sections of the area that cannot be found as you go south towards the Condo Canyons of Palm beach to Miami. And if you go north you soon leave "Southern Florida" and swimable water in the winter.
Waterwise, the St Lucie River, the Indian river (Intercoastal Waterway), a mostly navigable ocean inlet, and the Okeechobee canal all meet together about a mile away from the Condo (yes, it's a busy boating place). There are County and state parks, and in general it's a pretty beautiful place.
It is also for rent for the winter season of Jan, Feb, Mar, and even April. More on that in a few weeks.
